![]() Press ReleasesJune 14, 1996 TRW LOSES WRONGFUL TERMINATION SUIT - A Los Angeles Superior Court jury awarded a former TRW vice president $2.5 million Thursday for wrongful termination. Maclynn Brinton, 55, was fired from TRW in June 1994 after working 26 years for the company, Brinton v. TRW Inc., BC107569. "We are delighted with the jury's verdict," said Maclynn's attorney Philip J. Ganz Jr. of the Law Offices of Hardy L. Thomas in Westwood. Attorney Laurie Susan Gorsline, of the same firm and who also represented Brinton added, "Our client feels TRW's bad faith conduct finally caught up with them after all this time." Brinton had been on leave from the company for 2 1/2 years due to severe, debilitating depression. His lawyers said the depression resulted from false promises of job security made by his supervisors. Brinton moved to Colorado Springs, Colo., in August 1991 to take up a new position with the company. Realizing that his job was not secure and due to the conduct of his supervisor, Brinton fell into the depression, his lawyers said. When he emerged from the depression in June 1994, Brinton was terminated from his job. Ganz said he expects the case to be appealed. "It has been a long struggle and we expect there will be a long struggle ahead in the future", he said. Gregg Sindici of San Diego's Littler, Mendelson, who represented TRW, could not be reached for comment Thursday. Copyright 1996 Daily Journal Corp. Reprinted with Permission. CASES-ARTICLES
